How I Spent My Summer Vacation...

Hey Everyone!! I'm back! I decided (and by decided I mean realized I hadn't posted in months and came up with an excuse to fit the situation) to take a summer break. It was very nice and relaxing, but as Friday was the official first day of fall, I thought it might be time to start posting again...

 A Microcosm of My Summer...
As one of the few couples in their twenties who have an apartment with multiple unoccupied bedrooms in a major city, JP and I have our fair share of house guests. Therefore, when Joe Berger needed a place to camp out while he hunted for a job, apartment 224 was the obvious choice. He moved in sometime in the middle of May and will be leaving us on Saturday.  We had good times and we had some not-so-good-but-not-really-that-awful times and we had some really WEIRD times this summer and now I feel like I have to report on them. So in honor of my summer living with TWO boys coming to a close, I present a Highlight Reel of sorts for your amusement.

Joe's move-in was possibly the easiest thing in the whole world. JP and I both panicked for days about how the move would go...and Joe literally showed up, we unloaded boxes for about half an hour, and then they took the U-Haul back. It was the easiest move-in of my entire life.

I am so sick of watching video games it's not even funny. JP and Joe burned through Assassin's Creed, some Star Wars game, Grand Theft Auto, Halo, a game that Joe randomly bought to play on JP's x-box, and most recently Grand Theft Auto. I might have missed some...but really all the gratuitous violence and killing blends together for me after a while.

Apparently living with two boys has totally discouraged me from cleaning...ever. Same goes for eating real food versus fast food. I've given up people!! There are going to be numerous blogs this fall that detail my rehabilitation when it comes to being clean and eating healthy.

When living with two boys...thou shalt not ever have leftovers. The few times I did manage to cook this summer...there was nothing left. One time there might have been some lasagna left...it was gone by the end of the weekend. HUMAN VACUUMS.

At one point, my mom and sister came to visit. My mother is now obsessed with Joe Berger to an unhealthy degree. When he would disappear (as he ultimately did for mysterious amounts of time all summer...because he has GASP other friends!) she would fret incessantly about his well being. I think she's trying to set him up with my sister...neither party is interested in a romantic relationship...thank GOD.

We took a road trip at one point to Pittsburgh and let me tell you...that car ride was simultaneously the most disturbing and hilarious part of my summer. Joe and I sang...a lot. JP sang a little also...but it was to Shania Twain in the Larry voice. I think this illustrates the disturbing hilarity of this road trip. We also ate ourselves silly at Cracker Barrel on the way home. WINNING.

In all honesty...I'm sort of sad to see him go...and not only because his departure forces me to start cleaning again. It was a lot of fun having a 24 hour sausage fest in apartment 224 this summer and even though he's not moving very far, I will miss all of our Three's Company-esque antics. BEST OF LUCK J-BERG in your new grown-up life!

Until next time (hopefully this weekend???!!?)
Jill-Ron
