We're going to pretend I was hibernating...

hibernating-bear-coming-out-of-cave.jpg

Happy New Years Internets!! (Yeah thats right...I started this entry two months ago and decided to just copy and paste...wanna fight about it?)

*Typical excuses and apologies for not updating this blog more frequently* Can we skip this? Aren't we good enough friends by now to just pick up where we left off? Yes? Awesome...onwards we go.

So I'll just do a brief update of the last two months of 2010 (and first two months of 2011) and then my completely overambitious plan is to update every twice a week. I think thats probably acceptable until I get back in the hang of writing/become awkwardly funny again. If not...go surf Facebook for a few more hours...see if I care!!!! (I do care!!! COME BACK TO ME! YOUR ATTENTION IS MY SUSTENANCE!!!)

Part of the reason why I stopped writing is that well...the blog is supposed to be about living with a boy and I wasn't really doing that any longer! JP came back from his Floridian electoral adventures on November the 4th which was nice. Things were going smoothly and he'd convinced me that it was a good idea to let him return to Florida until our planned Christmas trip to California (which in a stroke of SHEER BRILLIANCE I made him book airfare for BEFORE election night...smartest action ever).

Unfortunately, near the end of his week-after-the-election vacation we had a big scare when my future Mother-in-Law had a heart attack. I want to just thank ALL of you guys out there who prayed, helped, supported, and calmed us (me because JP deals with serious medical issues better than I do) down during these events. It means more than you know to have the support of the family/friends network during times like that. I can say now Mrs. Walsh is doing EXCELLENTLY. Except for slight lack of energy (which is coming back quite quickly now), you wouldn't even know this woman was sick. She's a champion and we're so thankful for the successful procedures and her rapid recovery.

Despite much drama, yelling, tears and finally "giving it up to Jesus" JP was finally offered a position in the Rick Scott administration. THANKFULLY, it is a position in his DC offices and I am once again living with a boy!!!! This was my favorite Christmas gift of all this holiday season and JP is absolutely thrilled to not only be gainfully employed again, but to be employed doing something he loves. Well, we're assuming it will be something he loves...they haven't exactly given him a solid job description yet (its been two months). NOW QUIT ASKING FOR DETAILS BECAUSE WE DON'T HAVE ANY MORE!!!!!! I'll keep everyone posted on further updates on his ever changing career path.

I started grad school at GW in January and managed to register for classes, fill out loan paperwork, set up school IDs and go to orientation in the course of a week. Because this is the world's craziest MBA program, I have also totally finished my first 3 classes over the past 8 weeks (last week I took my first round of finals...dear sweet baby Jesus I forgot how much finals suck!). It's been pretty cool though so far...I'm excited about all the skillz I'm learning. I FINALLY have a third person on my billing team at work though, so that should reduce my stress levels significantly. He's the bomb.com and I've been elevated to "homie" status with him and work is significantly less sucky now. fall

Many hilarious stories will continue be related on this website as JP and I attempt to do things together like live on a budget, get in shape, take a cruise, plan a wedding, host parties, visit family, prepare for marriage, meet the gaggle of new babies that are being born this spring, and generally not kill each other fall in love with each other all over again.

Lets hope I can keep this up...

I'm BACK Fools!!!!!!!

Oh look everyone, I'm not dead...AGAIN!!!! If you've been reading my facebook posts recently (and lets not kid ourselves...there are no mysterious Internet fans out there reading this that I don't know on facebook) you'll know that I've been studying for the GMAT and JP has been mysteriously missing. Well readers, I have a confession to make...JP is actually a Russian Spy and has been detained by those mysterious men in black that you see on the X-Files...or Fringe...or other conspiracy based shows. About a month ago they came, zip tied his hands, and led him away to a place that I can only assume will lead to him being unofficially "disappeared." I tried to fight them off and get my man back...but the GMAT needed to be studied for and I'm only a 5'2", somewhat flabby, not skilled in fighting, girlfriend.

Is your bullshit meter going off yet??

Ok ok fine...here's what really happened. JP got a temporary job for a few months in Florida and doesn't want the details all over the net. He has this silly misconception that having all details of your life in a public forum on the Internet is a BAD thing. Clearly we do not share the same aspirations to become Internet famous. If you'd like to know more about his activities...you get in touch with him and stop bugging me! I'll never tell!!! Quit shining that bright light in my face!!!

Meanwhile, other than losing my mind and trying desperately to keep my life from descending into utter chaos, I've taken the GMAT, gotten a 620 (woohoo!!), kept the Dean Monster alive, traveled to New York City, and completely ignored this blog. NEVER FEAR THOUGH! I have a plan that will hopefully keep me updating more frequently! I'm not going to tell you about it though because

a.) you'll know exactly when I'm going to post...and that will ruin the surprise

b.) you'll know exactly when I'm going to post...and if I don't you'll throw it in my face (bastards!!!!)

c.) its a lot more fun for me this way

I will give you a little sneak peak of things to come....things I miss about living with a boy, reports of my various adventures, the first of many wedding planning entries, a special new feature that has nothing to do with what this blog is supposed to be about, and possibly a video of me playing with the cat. STAY TUNED FRIENDS FOR ALL THE FUN AND EXCITEMENT!!!!!

Love you Friends,
Jillron

Man Gripes: Leftovers Left Out

Hey look! I'm not dead Anonymous Internet Audience!!! The new goal is not go more than a month without a new entry! I can just get in under my goal if I post this today! We've been busy down here in the DC Metro area, entertaining guests, going to weddings, job hunting, cleaning my old apartment before giving the keys back, going to work and procrastinating writing another blog entry. But now all these things are over and I've decided to finally post an entry about LIVING with a boy, since as of last Saturday I now officially only have ONE apartment that I share with a male.

What a Winner...

I've tried to keep this blog light and humorous and fairly un-complainy thus far; however if I'm really going to give you an accurate portrayal of how it is living with a boy, I'm going to have to complain every once and a while. Tonight's gripe is about something that JP has done pretty much since the beginning of time that just makes my skin crawl: leaving food/dishes on the table for hours (days at times!) after a meal!!!! Since moving in together full time, we've really started to make an effort to cook dinner every week night and sit down at the table for a meal. This is a really nice tradition and it sort of makes me feel like an adult and not some slovenly college student.
Typical "Slovenly College Student"...love you Tom, this picture was too good not to use!

We generally sit down together, say grace, have a somewhat healthy meal, and sometimes even a nice conversation. After we're both full though, the awkwardness begins! Here's a sample of a typical after dinner conversation:

JP: Are you done?

Jill: Yeah, I've been done eating for 15 minutes now. What should we do with all this left over food [because we always ALWAYS make too much food...neither of us has mastered the art of cooking for two], I can't eat any more of it.

JP proceeds to eat more of the leftover food until he literally goes into a food coma at the table.

Jill: This is ridiculous, you're not even hungry!

JP: We will not waste ANYTHING!!!!

Jill: Ok I'll put the dishes in the sink [since JP does most of the cooking, I generally feel obligated to do the dishes], but can you pack up the extra food?

JP: Yeah I'll get to it. Goes into the living room or office and occupies himself with something else.

An Hour later...

Jill: JP!!! Did you put the food away??

JP: Give me just a minute I'm right at the exciting part/killing some zombies/doing something important [but generally not doing something that couldn't wait for 5 minutes]!!!!!!!!!!!

Jill: GROOOOOAAAAAAAN!!!!!!

Around 11:30 when I retire for the evening to the bedroom...

Jill: JP THIS FOOD HAS BEEN SITTING OUT FOR HOURS!!!! Its not even recognizable as food anymore!!!

JP: Its fine...quit yelling

Jill: ummm no its not fine...theres dairy in this and its been sitting out for over 5 hours!

JP: its fine...I just ate like half of it 15 minutes ago.

Jill: ...I'm going to pretend you didn't just tell me that and go to bed now.

The next morning...

The food is still sitting there totally hardened, but definitely picked over and half eaten

Jill:
YES, I could have put the food away myself...I do realize this. Its really one of those "Its the principle of the thing" situations though! Maybe he'll learn to properly store food someday...until then I just hope he will continue to cook. He is very good at that...
